Real-Edwards Conservation & Reclamation District River Flows for March 2020
Both the Nueces River flows were taken on March 17, 2020. Each had a slight increase in flow from rain showers. The Dam crossing on Hwy 55 south of Camp Wood was flowing at 43,360 gpm (gallons per minute), and the McDonald crossing was running at 24,836 gpm. The McDonald crossing continues to have several pipes that are reduced in flow due debris and gravel.
Both Llano River crossings in northern Edwards County were taken on March 25, 2020, after the bountiful rain showers. As you can see, there is an increase in flow for both Telegraph and Evergreen crossings. For the crossing at Telegraph on Highway 377, the South Llano River had a flow of 85,875 gpm. At the Evergreen School crossing, the flow increased to 99,577 gpm. Both crossings continue to have several pipes congested with debris and gravel.
On Ranch Road 336 is Kent Creek which flows into the West Prong of the Frio River. This crossing showed an increase in flow of 1,956 gpm. Further north on RR 336 in Rancho Real, the 1st crossing of the West Prong of the Frio River recorded an increase flow of 6,023 gpm. Again, both crossing measurements were taken on March 17, 2020, and both continue to have some debris and gravel impeding flow.
On March 17, 2020, east on Ranch Road 337 and past the cemetery is the serene Leakey Springs tributary that flows into the Frio River. This crossing measurement was taken on March 17, 2020 showing an increased flow of 4,122 gpm. This is the only crossing that does not appear to have debris or gravel hindering flow.
Heading over to Hwy 83 at the Mill Creek Road crossing on the East Prong of the Frio River on March 17, 2020, the flow was 10,547 gpm. Moving down the Frio River to FM 1120 past the Alto Frio Baptist Encampment (Fulgham’s Crossing), this flow increased to 15,151 gpm. Again, both crossing measurements were taken on February 18, 2020, and have debris and gravel impeding flow in some pipes.
